About MEDear Reader,
Hello! I am Chnoa, a License Master Social Worker (LMSW). I am an alumni of Columbia University and Sacred Heart University (SHU). I am an aspiring future PHD of Social Work holder, college professor.
I currently work as an Operations Assistant for Press Play Motivation and am a Graduate Assistant within the Office of Community Engagement at SHU! Through my academic journey of obtaining my goals and dreams I faced some personal trials and tribulations. Before I got to where I was today, these moments (below) are engraved in my brain as I tried my best to push through it all in my studies, and even as I finished and began looking for employment

Throughout my journey, I've faced challenges that I’ve successfully overcome. One example is obtaining my driver's license in May 2023, something I had thought about since before I turned 16. It felt impossible at times, but I’ve learned that your mind can trick you into believing something that’s entirely achievable isn't. Don’t let your mind win like I did for so long! It's like Bambi learning to walk—clumsy at first, but by the end, he was a pro! I share this to let you know that if you’ve had similar experiences, it’s completely normal.
Once I overcame this hurdle, I realized how many opportunities there are to grow and learn even more. In September 2024, I officially became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), which has been a dream come true. There’s so much beauty in developing a career and in the endless opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.
As I work as an LMSW, my next goal is to pursue a Ph.D. I want to evaluate and contribute to the programs I engage with, using the knowledge I’ve gained from my studies and experiences prior. Through my Ph.D. dissertation, I hope to connect with the local community, conduct meaningful research, and create impactful work that can change the world. Many Ph.D. programs require two years of post-MSW work experience, so as I take a pause in my institutional academic journey, I’m focused on continuing to learn and grow as a professional. Along the way, I aim to share my journey in hopes of being a guiding force for others.
